Psalm 55:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
Deuteronomy 31:8 New International Version (NIV)
8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Happy New Year!!!!! I have been looking for almost 2 weeks for a word that would minister to me. I came across many, but none resonated with my soul. A few minutes ago, I began to watch one of Joel Osteen’s sermons and I felt peace. I finally got the word. Thank you Jesus!
I am at a point in my life that I anxiously pray and wait on God to answer my prayers. The prayers and dreams I have are heavily embedded and anchored to my psyche. They are the first and last things I think about. Joel Osteen spoke about these “frustrations” as he called them. He advised that sometimes we pray and hold on to the worry and frustrations and we choose to be in control of them. See, per Psalms 55:22, we need to cast all our cares to the Lord. If we hold on to our dreams so much that we let it control us as we constantly think about it, it is like idolatry.
Joel further pointed how Abraham loved his son so much and when God asked him to sacrifice his son, he chose not to give into the frustrations and let God have control. He TRUSTED God. This is when the life of his son was spared. God cannot act when you are hanging on to this control. He wants you to let go and submit to his will. Even when you pray to God, explain to God what you want but go a step further- Tell God at the end of the day, you will respect his will as he is all knowing and he knows what is BEST for you.
I am reminded of the story of Moses. God neither left him nor forsaked him. He was in several situations that he could have easily carried all the frustrations of the Israelites on his shoulders. However, I see that he constantly sought God and when God spoke, he believed and gave him control. I can only imagine Moses being told by God, “Tell Pharaoh a plague of frogs is coming” It sounds absurd but he believed God will not forsake him and he cast all his frustrations on God.
We are not alone! God is with us and will never leave us. Cast all your cares upon him and see our Great God fight your battles. Amen.
P.S How beautiful is He, He who knitted me delicately in my mother’s womb. How wonderful is He, He who watches over me. How magnificent is He, He who loves me and created me in His image. How great is He, He who fights my battles. I thank you Lord, I love you Lord.
